Francesco Corona

Francesco Corona is a Docent at the Department of Information and Computer Science at Aalto University (Finland). He joined the Aalto University/Helsinki University of Technology in January 2007, where he was appointed to the Docentship in Industrial Applications of Machine Learning in 2009 and to the Docentship in Information and Computer Science in 2014. Francesco received the Laurea (M.Sc.) degree in Chemical Engineering from the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials of the University of Cagliari (Italy). After working as process control engineer for the Saras Group, he received the Ph.D. (Eng.) degree in Industrial Engineering from the Doctoral School in Industrial Engineering of the University of Cagliari.

His interest concentrates on Statistical Machine Learning and Information Visualisation technologies with application to process modelling, visualisation, control and optimization. Specific domains are Chemometrics and Visual Analytics for industrial processes and environmental systems.

He is member of IFAC, the International Federation of Automatic Control, Suomen Automaatioseura ry, the Finnish Society of Automation and Suomen Biostatistiikan Seura ry, the Finnish Society of Biostatistics. In IFAC, he is member of the Technical Commitee 8.4 on Biosystems and Bioprocesses.

In Francesco's activities there are constantly open student projects. Those projects might be accomplished in the framework of a Master Thesis, as well as in the framework of a Special Assignment. If you are interested, please, get in contact.
